Small Particles, Big Concerns: Marine Microplastics Revisited

Our RESPONSE funders JPI Oceans will host a conference at the European Parliament this month entitled ‘Small Particles, Big Concerns: Marine Microplastics Revisited’. This event was organised to foster a comprehensive understanding of the challenges posed by microplastics in our marine ecosystems and to catalyse collective action. this hybrid event will be hosted by MEP Catherine Chabaud, Co-Chair of theOcean Governance’ Working Group of the European Parliament Intergroup on ‘Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development

We are excited to announce that as part of this event, our recent report on ‘Science Communication and Marine Plastic Pollution: Perspectives on the (mis) Communication of Microplastics’ will be distributed to delegates who attend in person. The report presents several key considerations with regards to science communication strategy, accessibility, and resourcing, for effective marine science communication in relation to microplastic pollution which are applicable to other marine and non-marine science related topics.

For those who can’t grab a copy in person, this report is available to download online at the following link, and the associated briefing note at the following link.
